What to Expect
Virtual Process
The first consultation is simply a discovery consultation. We will cover key aspects such as the scope of work, expectations, budget, timeline, our respective roles in the project, overall goals, and what the next steps will be. This meeting is also a chance to get to know each other and make sure we are comfortable and confident in each other.
- Scope of Work:
-
-
Scope of work details what all needs to be completed during the remodel process from the smallest to the largest detail. This will set the direction of the meeting and help solidify expectations, budges, timelines, goals, and the next steps.
-
-
Expectations:
-
Clarifying expectations helps prevent misunderstandings and ensures that both you and those of us at Jessica Lehman Design are aligned on what needs to be achieved.
-
-
Budget:
-
Discussing the budget early on allows for transparency, determining the feasibility of the project, and what may need to be reevaluated.
-
-
Timeline:
-
Establishing a timeline is crucial for managing expectations and planning the project activities and milestones.
-
-
Goals:
-
Understanding the goals of the project provides a broader context for the work and helps in tailoring solutions to problems that may arise.
-
-
Building Rapport:
-
Taking the time to get to know each other fosters a positive working relationship. It can enhance communication and collaboration throughout the project.
-
-
Clear Understanding:
-
By the end of the consultation, aiming for a clear understanding of the project, roles, and expectations is key. This ensures that we are all on the same page and reduces the likelihood of miscommunication.
-
-
Next Steps:
-
Clearly outlining the next steps at the end of the consultation is key for making sure everyone has a clear understanding of their role and responsibility for the duration of the project.
-
After the initial consultation, a personalized proposal will be developed. This proposal will detail all of the items discussed in the consultation. The proposal will include the scope of work, expectations, design fee payment schedule, and all other important information pertaining to your project. After the scope of work is agreed upon, the contract will be drafted and first non-refundable deposit due.
The design phase is where the tangible progress and creative vision of the project come to life. All file sharing and meetings are done online via email, our management program, and Google Meet. Here’s an overview of the steps involved:
- Space Measurement:
- You or your contractor will be responsible for providing accurate measurements using provided measurement guide. Accurate measurements are the foundation of any successful design project, so please pay close attention to what is being asked on the measurement guide.
- Technical Planning:
- This involves the detailed technical aspects of the project, including floorplans and space planning. It’s the stage where the design is translated into practical and functional layouts.
- Finish Selection:
- This phase includes choosing finishes such as flooring, wall treatments, paint colors, lighting fixtures, hardware, and other decorative elements. It’s where we bring the aesthetic vision of the project to life
- Client Collaboration:
- Collaboration with you (the client) is continuous, involving regular updates, feedback sessions, and approvals. This ensures that the project stays on track with your vision and expectations
- Problem-Solving:
- As challenges or unexpected issues arise during the design phase, addressing issues promptly and finding creative solutions helps keep the project on track. Let’t face it, we do not live in a perfect world. Issues and challenges WILL come up, but there are always solutions. Stay calm and carry on.
- Regular Updates:
-
Providing regular updates to you on the progress of the design phase of your project helps maintain transparency and ensures that any adjustments or modifications can be discussed and agreed upon promptly. Open lines of communication are key to ensuring the project goes as smoothly as possible.
-
This phase marks the actual construction and transformation of the space based on the meticulously planned design. It’s the exciting stage where the vision starts becoming a reality. Using our curated guide your project is then handed over to your contractor (or you) if you prefer to DIY.
-
Contractor’s Role:
-
The contractor takes the lead in executing the construction based on the approved plans and specifications. Their expertise ensures that the work is carried out according to industry standards and regulations. An excellent contractor is GOLD!
